The Rusty Pelican Restaurant, Key Biscayne, Florida

I moved to Miami back in the 1970’s. I felt like I was living in paradise with blue skies, beautiful beaches, and great food.  During my first year living in Miami, some of my friends took me to The Rusty Pelican for my birthday.  Located on Key Biscayne in the Miami Bay, this restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy all that contemporary Miami has to offer.

The Rusty Pelican has a phenomenal view of Miami across the Miami Bay. I fell in love with the food, service and view. I recommend going just before sunset and watching the city turn from day to night. Monday through Friday there is a happy hour from 4 PM to 7 PM  and the place is packed.  Try the agave sunset shown below.

The restaurant offers eclectic and impressive contemporary American cuisine and fresh local seafood. After a $9 million dollar renovation 6 years ago, it is even more expensive than in previous decades. The menu is now expensive to very expensive. You can go for less at lunch time or happy hour to check it out.  Oysters on the half shell anyone?

Try the tequila marinated organic  chicken. Yum!

When in Miami, Florida, drive over the Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne and stop for a drink and view.

I was raised in Tennessee but have lived in Florida for many years. Love my small home in the Tampa Bay area and its developing garden. My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. It looks just beautiful and really delicious. And yes, expensive. Lunch is always a great time to go enjoy an expensive resto and then a simple dinner later! The pie is so elegant! And the presentation is stunning!

  2. I can’t resist key lime pie, and that one looks like a winner. The final picture is stunning … that alone would be worth the visit!

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
