I had three ceramic pumpkins from Dollar Tree that I bought within the last 2 years. The first is a white ceramic and the second is brown ceramic.
The third is a little orange pumpkin. This year I really want very little orange in my home. That’s not really a color that fits my style as my living and dining areas are more coastal cottage with a modern influence. I started with the little orange pumpkin and painted it pink. After the pink dried, it was a little too pink. I added a whitewash of watered down white paint.
I then painted the bottom of the pumpkin and the leaf gold.
I dripped whitewash on the top line of the gold bottom. I added gold polka dots on the pink top and black accents on the leaf. When I put it in a vignette with gold jewelry, it really pops.
For the other two pumpkins, even though one was white, I painted both with white paint. I didn’t want a shiny finish of ceramic white. After several coats, I added gold touch ups and black accents on the leaves.
I added a strand of small pearls and it looks great.
The brown one was also painted white with gold and black around the leaves.
I made a vignette with my new chest of plants, candlesticks, and jewlery.
I will be using these little white pumpkins a lot in the next few years.

Hi Carol, I’m glad to see you survived Irma, it couldn’t have been fun at all. It didn’t stop your blogging mind though, I like the pumpkin display you created, very crafty and autumnal. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an ornmental pumpkin that wasn’t a real one dried!

I need to be braver with paint. Love that you went for it. I can see how the orange and a coastal theme might not mix. Like the idea of adding the beads. Easy to change if you fancy a hint of a different colour. #MMBC
Yes I like that the white/pink pumpkins can be used with any color in a vignette.

You don’t celebrate Halloween? I believe it comes from the British Isles. I’ve met many people from other cultures who had never heard of it until moving to the US. It’s the 2nd biggest holiday in decorating in this country. Kids from other countries quickly love it and make their parents participate.
It is starting to become more popular Carol but only over the last few years.
