Getting Ready For Fall
Usually I go for simple decorating; sometimes it is just a household plant. Today I am sharing a favorite late summer early fall look, a cream and brown graphic runner and a house plant, a Boston Fern. It is coming to the end of summer, and I am getting ready to travel north to visit family in Michigan. My friend will come by and water my houseplants while I’m gone. After months of bright, humid heat, a break up north is a treat. I often go in August. The break gives me incentive to finish the hurricane season, as I look forward to the cooler temps of winter. This pretty table will welcome me home.
Simple tables like this can be attractive and a time-saver. Green household plants add life and texture and are easy to display and use. As fall is coming, I am introducing more tans in my decor. My general coastal home decor is not really conducive to autumn orange and gold. I introduce more tans, textures, and brown as fall comes.
Several years ago, I got this particular runner at a thrift store new with the original tag. I love the brown graphics.
The runner is reversible. On a later fall post, I will share the other side, brown background with cream graphics. I like to use the brown side in the autumn.

Thanks for visiting!
Love the runner, how cool it’s reversible!
Carol that is lovely. I like the pattern on it with the brown colors and the fact that it is reversible makes it a win-win. I can’t wait to see what it looks like on the other side. Happy Fall!
Thanks, Mary. Hope your autumn is fantastic!
Carol — that’s a beautiful table setting and it looks cooling during the Florida heat. Do you put up hurricane shutters when you go away for a short while? We have a tiny home in Ft Myers where we live during winter and spring (yep, we’re those dreaded snowbirds) and we always put up the shutters before we leave for Oregon … it is such a job, but I’m convinced that if we didn’t we’d be inviting a hurricane to make land right there in our neighborhood.
Enjoy your trip and your time up North!!
It won’t be long you’ll be back in Florida. I love Snowbirds!
Carol- you have an eye for design!
The simplicity is perfect!
I prefer the browns to oranges so this is pleasing to the eye 😀
Thanks for the inspiration!

And I escape to the South whenever I can, to escape the cold !
I totally understand!

Thanks!
Oh How I love your table runner. What a great find. Yes I can feel Fall in the air too even with this humidity we are having. Beautiful setting on your table.
Thanks, Vickie.

This is so simple, but yet so good at the same time.

The table runner is lovely on your dining table. I love ferns, but have a hard time keeping it alive. LOL, maybe I will try again. Thank you for sharing at Dishing it and DIgging it link party. We love having you.
Thanks. I know what you mean. Don’t know how long the fern will last!
Your fern and runner are gorgeous. I love a good bargain and sounds like you got one in the table runner. Thank you for sharing at Vintage Charm.
Thanks, I love finding a treasure in the midst of the castaways.
Carol, aren’t Boston Ferns the best? We have a few outside, one hanging in a Japanese Maple tree. I’ve never thought of bringing them inside, but I might try that for the fall. Thanks for sharing at Your Inspired Design.
Thanks, Carol. Have a wonderful week.
It is that time of year! I have been getting into the fall things also. Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
