DIY Frugal Foot Scrub

I have been trying homemade, natural skin care for the last couple of years. There are thousands of chemicals used in the conventional beauty and personal care products sold in stores. Here is one I read about a few years ago and really love. The peppermint essential oil is energizing while soothing to feet and legs.

Relieve tired tootsies with this treatment from Renee Loux, author of Easy Green Living .

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 6 drops peppermint essential oil

Directions

  • Combine ingredients in a glass jar or bowl.
  • Scrub feet with salt scrub massaging foot and sore spots.
  • Rinse well.
  • Dry feet taking care to remove moisture between toes.
  • Moisturize feet with favorite cream.

The salt exfoliates your feet and hands. The menthol in peppermint soothes sore muscles. This scrub is inexpensive, chemical free, eco-friendly and easy to make. If you wish to make and store scrub, always use a dark glass jar with a lid. Exposure to sunlight accelerates the expiration of essential oils. You have probably noticed most essential oils are sold in dark amber bottles for this reason. Essential oils should be stored in a dark, dry place.

For safety’s sake, please test individual ingredients with a patch test for allergies. Do not use if you have an allergy to the ingredients.
